Exhibiting Artists

As a photographer who rarely has the opportunity to travel far from home, I focus on the world around me. I strive to capture the enchantment in the ordinary and the charm in the commonplace. My photographs are my natural captures of a specific moment – a time that only I was there – only me – at that place, on that day, at that time. I enjoy sharing my perspective with all who wish to see

My work is primarily wheel thrown, functional pottery with a bit of hand building added for more of a variety. I really like to explore different surface decorations and presently I'm using a Mishima technique where I carve into the clay then add colorants. The clear glaze that I use creates a water color effect with the under glazes. Above all, it's my wish that my pottery be admired and used!

Watercolor, acrylics and oil paintings. Dan especially enjoys painting old barns and other old buildings and the environment around them.

My varied sources of inspiration come from simple things in nature, ordinary things around the home, the beauty of the Ozarks, and Kansas farmland.

My art comes from the heart enjoying the world around me sharing landscapes, still life and animal portraits. Many are from travels in the U.S. as well as abroad. It is portrayed in acrylics, watercolor, graphite and charcoal. Just for fun, I paint on rocks, metal saws, broken fences and even an animal bone. As they say, "Variety is the spice of life" I hope my art "makes you happy!!"

I am an avid hiker and my true passion is photography. I love to capture the vast world of nature all around us. Nature has always been a draw to me, it has an inherent beauty that I learned to appreciate at a very young age. It offers wonderful surprises at every look, every step, along every path, and in every corner and crevice. With a camera in my hand, I see things I would possibly never see other wise. I love to seek out those hidden beauties as I might just be walking a short distance down a path, along a stream, or through a woods, examining at length everything from lichen and algae growing on a rotted log to pebbles lining a brook, unique reflections in the water, or I am hiking the mountains of places like Colorado seeing the glorious vistas, thunderous waterfalls, or glacial lakes it has to offer. I love to hike but even more I love to capture these images and share them with all of you to bring that story, that emotion, that sense of awe, that sense of peace and calm, that I have gotten to experience when I step out into the wondrous world of nature around us.

I create 3-dimensional glass art by fusing glass components in an artistic presentation. Kiln-fired glass demands precise firing schedules to achieve structural integrity while enhancing the beauty of the original glass. Recently returning to my glass art roots, I also create stained glass panels in the Tiffany style using copper foil and solder.
I offer workshops in both fused glass and stained glass art at ArtForms Gallery, 620 N. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS.

The Fibonacci sequence represents the building blocks of life itself. I'm fascinated by all things incorporating the golden ratio and love to express it with my latest series of aesthetically pleasing spiral staircases. I also create rosaries, loving the idea of using stones and crystals to help people connect with the sacred.
